Reading through your posts, you do appear to have a pathological hatred of
anything sun or digital, which is an emotional response, not one coming from
rational analysis, Mr Spock :-).
With h/w hat on and having worked on and used all three, I can say that
while
hp were pretty good, the build quality and software were no better than
either of
the other two. Dec and Sun (less so) were expensive, but so were hp at
the time.
They all got the job done and it really does come down to software
availability
and personal preference, which have much more influence than navel gazing
over which cpu is the fastest, or has the most elegant architecture. The
really
sad thing is that the cpu landscape has been decimated by the rise of
mass market
Pc's and intel architecture. Only Sparc and Power remain significant
from a whole
ecosystem of innovation and original design...
