If your standards are low, then you might look at:
http://antinode.info/ftp/punxx/punxx.c
The only documentation is in the file. It's minimally tested,
and I wouldn't depend on the timing of repeating Bright and
Dim commands, but it seems to work with appliance modules on
my Alpha, so I may now be able to control the power on my less
clever systems when I'm away from home. Most of my X10
hardware is old enough to say "Radio Shack plug'n power", so
there may be more modern features of which I know nothing.
Some clever fellow (with copious free time) should get one
of the newer USB-interface gizmos, and write something for
that.
