I once heard a comment in this group that (paraphrased) "Windows is quite
stable, as long as it is not being used."  (the context was that a VAX 
emulator was started on a Windows machine and was quite stable (long 
uptimes) because the VAX emulator used minimal use of the underlying 
Windows OS, and an otherwise idle Windows system is stable)
