People have been interested in a VAXstation emulator that can run
native VAXstation graphics software rather than being limited solely
to whatever X11 things work over a "remote" link for a while. I'm
guessing that the VAXstation 2000 used more off-the-shelf components
than some other more "desirable" models and thus was easier to code an
emulator for.
