True, but HP don't even PLAN support for any more advanced standards on 
VMS, as far as I know.

That I do understand.  Fortran 90 came out at about the same time ALPHA 
did.  Anyone doing serious Fortran development would be on ALPHA; VAX is 
mostly frozen code.  I'm glad they didn't waste any effort there.
