HP is fully aware of the itanium ecosystem because of the billions it
sends Intel to keep IA64 on life support.

The board would have also been made aware of the liabilities and
requirements to support HP-UX, VMS and NSK for at least 5 years etc.

If their mentality is to postpone a decision n the future of IA64 and
its ecosystem, then it leaves customers in the dark on what the plans
are going to be because they plans aren't being made at a time when
custommers and the press don't trust HP.

And if they continue to leave IA64 on auto pilot, then every shot in the
bow like Oracle did will really hurt the cutsomer base and IA64 will
shrink to a point where when HP does eventually wake up and have to make
a decision, that decision will be simple to make because AI64 will be
beyond being brought back.
