1- The bet is likely that RDB customers will continue to pay for support
of the existing (last) version of RDB for VMS for many years and if they
are still oon VMS it is liekly that their applications are mature/stable
and wull run for many years unchanged.

Whether this perceptio represents vast majority of reality or just a
small portion, I don't know.

At the end of the day, accountants tend to be less emotional and may
override a "no Oracle" desire if Oracle provides a cheaper porting solution.
