Agreed, but was thinking more of Open Solaris, where there should be
a good chance of success. If you only want the decnet capability, 
"somewhere",
then a cheap alpha box running vms or tru64 or even linux on intel might 
be a solution.

I enquired (here) about a copy of decwrite for alpha some time ago but 
no success.
So much good software, it seems, lost forever...
