How does it work if you type the command interactively?

Which tcpip? Which ftp client on what platform? Which ftp server?
What version of VMS on what platform?

What does it look like with a DIR command at the DCL level?
"mumble.log;mumble.dir" seems like an unusual name, but I suppose it
could exist given ODS-5 (no experience here) and the appropriate
parsing setting (again no experience here).

It appears that:
   the name is "*.log;*"
   the type is ".dir"
   the version is ";"

Does this have any resemblance to the actual contents of [ARCSIGHT]?
What does DCL DIR say? What does FTP DIR say?

I *think* that the "^" are to escape the ".".
