Yes. Or at least it used to be. During a crash the system error log
is (used to be?) dumped in addition to the contents of memory (even
though it probablky is in memory). During a boot after a crash, it
is logged to the system error log in the same format it would have
been logged if the system had not crashed. Many times the errors
are relavent to the crash. I don't know if this essentially second
copy of the error log has ever changed.
AUTOGEN will get the size correct if you put the dumpstyle in
modparams.dat.
