I once found some ink cartridges for an old Canon in a remainders bin so 
grabbed the lot.  That printer would also work on an empty colour 
cartridge :-)

At the end of the day though it wasn't just the way ink cartridges were 
holding me hostage that made me switch to laser, but the endless faffing 
around the print heads would do prior to printing.
