There's been little change to the SMG$ library.  It's been ported from
VAX to Alpha to Itanium but there haven't been any new features and or
API added AFAICT.

None.  I have volumes of SMG$ laden code and it's all working on VAX,
Alpha and Itanium.  

What lingo is your application written?  It could be that your app is
using some VAXism that needs to be considered, understood and revised
for 64-bit and or Alpha and Itanium.  SMG$ is, otherwise, pretty solid
and should give you the same results.  

Also, have you checked that all your terminal caracteristics are the
same as on your VAXen?  Check the default tty params in SYSGEN too.
