Are you using the supplied PASCAL$SMG_ROUTINES.PAS/PEN environment file?  Or 
do you have your own in-house prototypes of the entry points?

Anything "special" about the failing files?  Look at the DIR/FULL output and 
see if anything is common among the files (ie, Fortran carriage-control or 
such)
