An Irish friend mentioned this one:
"A total of 36,278,332 Americans—estimated at 11.9% of the total
population—reported Irish ancestry in the 2008 American Community Survey
conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau" [1]
"The population of Ireland is approximately 6.4 million. Just under 4.6
million live in the Republic of Ireland and just under 1.8 million live
in Northern Ireland." [2]
