For VAX:
a) a longer history of emulators, and corresponding maturity of those
products?
b) better hardware error reporting tools? With the succession of Alpha
diagnostics from DECevent to WEBES, to <I lost track somewhere>, doesn't
VAX/VMS 7.3 represent stability here?

I think this is where you cannot avoid the question of software and
availability of long term support for VAX/VMS.
