Or, maybe VMS is what made DEC what it at one time was, and by moving away from 
it destroyed customer's confidence in DEC, and VMS, and perhaps that is why DEC 
is no more ??

I really don't understand this attitude that Unix is so great and inevitable. 
Seems mostly a self fulfilling prophecy rather than based upon merit.  I guess 
if you say something enough, people might start believing it.

In fairness, I have to observe that DEC management was less than helpful.
