   Nope.  Meaningless hype.

   On VMS, I can have it either way:  bytes or organized, without writing 
   it.  Sometimes bytes are best, but with all the time CS folks
   studying data structures as undergrads it ought to be fairly easy to
   see the importance of being able to organize your data.
