   People needed the price/performance they were getting in UNIX/RISC
   workstations.

   I still recall the UNIX afficonado who complained so much when we
   got VAXstations and made him do C and X11 programming on VMS.

   On the next project he got UNIX.  And he HOWLED!

   See, he'd never actually used UNIX.

   And we got our first Alpha running VMS.  But our customer complained
   in the meantime, when we did another project on Ultrix-MIPS, that
   we weren't using a "real UNIX".  In their minds that was HP or Sun.
