This may sound silly, but have you tried putting a digital thermometre
on the outflow of the leftmost fan in the back ?  If both units show the
same output air temperature, then the CPUs should be at roughly the same.

Is the CPU of the cold system really running ?

Also, have you considered that the temperature sensor for the cold one
may have been detached and displaced to be outside of the CPU enclosure ?

The CPU in the DS10L is in a "tunnel" through which air is pushed by a
blower.  Post CPU, the hot air is directed towrds the back but the
"duct" is not airtight and much hot air bleeds back into the motherboard
area as well as the PCI card area.

If the temperature sensor was moved accdentally to the area just outside
 the CPU duct/tunnel, it could be exposed to air that is coming from the
front fans and not warmed up much yet.
