Here's another little Hopelessly Pathetic anecdote; albeit, it is not
about VMS but then, much here isn't. It is, however, about Hopelessly
Pathetic.
I had purchased a 17.3" Hopelessly Pathetic Envy several months ago. I
immediately removed the virus collector product from the schlock outfit
in Redmond, Washington that was pre-installed on this laptop's drive and
installed Linux. Just a little information to set your hearts at ease.
Never fear, I will never run WEENDOZE.
This Envy has an option for a second drive and I'd been pining to do an
update of the Linux on this Envy for the past few weeks. So, I decided
I would purchase a second drive to make a backup of the boot drive (live
boot from CD/DVD or USB and then 'dd' the primary drive to the secondary
drive); however, in its infintiely Hopelessly Pathetic modus operandi,
Hopelessly Pathetic did not provide the mounting hardware for the drive
in the Envy. I had to order this (Part # 665909-001) for $38.17 from
the Hopelessly Pathetic Parts Store. It arrived last week and, today,
while I was waiting for some tests on some VMS software to complete (I
did say this wasn't really about VMS), I decided I'd install the drive
and start the backup.
So, I opened the shipping box (roughly 1"x12"x8") that this tiny little
(roughly .3"x2"x3") *flimsy* drive bracket was shipped in. Wouldn't you
know it. It came with the screws to secure the drive in the bracket but
not to secure the bracket in the bay inside the Envy. WTF! Hopelessly
Pathetic couldn't provide those 4 tiny little 2.5mmx3.7mm screws too???
Granted, the parts description does say "screws" but it doesn't indicate
which screws accompany its WAY over-priced @ $38.17 *flimsy* metal mount-
ing bracket. Oh joy... another Hopelessly Pathetic part order.
For those who have been harping here about how Hopelessly Pathetic has
been so Hopelessly Pathetic with VMS, you can rest comfortably knowing
that Hopelessly Pathetic hasn't singled VMS out!
