One of my first printers was a Flexowriter variant for typesetting called
a "Justowriter", which used baudot code and a 6th bit for the letters /
figures
shift. Built a diode matrix translator from ascii and the hi voltage drivers
to the 100 volt dc solenoids. Very noisy, but quite reliable.
Later aquired a GE Terminet (1200 ?), which was ascii and weighed around
70lbs. Hard work to lift to the bench. Worked real well for a couple of
years
or so though...

Chris
