Hurd's alleged antics do have something to do with VMS. He was replaced
with Apotheker who announced a big new stragegy that didnt mention VMS.

Now, Meg Whitman is maming changes to that strategy and it looks like
she may not mince works with regards to the future of Itanium and VMS/P-UX.

So yes, Hurd's departure may result in a clearer path for VMS (whether
for the better or worse I can't tell).


Also, Hurd had cut R&D down to barebones, and dismantled VMS
engineering. So his departure is significant to VMS.

It is quite possible that the sexual antics and expense reporting were
just excuses used to fire him when the board realised that Hurd had cut
HP's ability to innovate and create new products.
