Don't count on it ....

Frankly, my best guess at your SFTP problem is that some unix geek didn't use RMS to read 
the data on VMS, just opened the file without using RMS and then didn't handle all the 
possibilities properly.  Just my guess, but if it's correct, then you can guess the types 
who have been hired to hack on what was a decent OS.
