sftp was born and bread in a land of all byte-stream files.
I used to work with a programmer who would run around claiming
"binary always works" for FTP transfers. He was used to using
dos2unix and unix2dos after transfering files.
He also made that claim while we were instructing a user on how
to use Multinet FTP features to transfer a file from UNIX on to
a VMS system resulting in a fixed record format file. Ha.
