Some third party products were pretty awful to use and/or unreliable; 
some others persisted with VT52 only support long after ANSI had become 
the standard, which meant I couldn't use EDIT/TPU.

One of the most frustrating was one long forgotten brand which sent
CTRL-U instead of rubout if you had the shift key pressed.
