Yep.
Unlike VMS, which seems to be sort of a religion,
Unix[oid]s are a family of pragmatic OS's for pragmatic people who need
their job to be done.

Indeed.
Whatever theoretical disaster scenarios people may come up here,
in practice I've seen more disasters with VMS than with Unix[oid]s.
In particular, if one also looks at non-technical issues,
i.e. two badly handled hardware migrations plus two changes of ownership
in less than a decade.
