Thanks Bill, I just wanted to confirm that it is possible to achieve a
bootable copy. I tried CDBurnerXP with the same result.
So I thought I would try the burned CD's on a real Alpha with a real CD drive
( RRD46 ) and they all booted OK :-)
I am running several Alpha emulators on my laptop with a DVD drive
and this appears to be the problem. ( HP DVD A DS8A5LH 1H68 ).
The solution is to back/image the CD to a vdisk and use that to boot off,
then build V84 to the target system-disk vdisk. ( Also boot the iso image is
another solution ).
Thanks for your help.
Best regards,
John Welsh.

Subject: [Info-vax] Hobbyist - CD iso
Hi all,
Has anyone had any success burning the V8.4 CD iso to a CD ?
I have tried both Nero Express and ImgBurn and haven't succeeded in
getting the CD to boot on several emulators.
The iso image itself will boot as a virtual disk and is able to be used
to build a working AXP VMS V8.4.
I have also tried creating an image using the LD driver ( Backup /image
from the iso file to the LD disk ). This doeosn't result in a bootable CD
after burning either.
Two basic errors result on boot:
SYSTEM-F-ILLBLKNUM - illegal logical block number
EXECINIT-F-LOADERR - error loading SYS$TRANSACTION_SERVICES.EXE
Any ideas ?
Regards,
John Welsh.
