We used to have an MSA1000 about 4 years ago, and I can answer your 3
questions by "No."

But we did have some performance problems and had to ditch it and upgrade to
an EVA4000.
The MSA is now in our disaster recovery site, humming pleasantly.

Note that when we did have the (serious) performance problems, the firmware
only allowed for active/passive controllers, and has since been upgraded to
active/active (and we lost all our LUN config in the upgrade process, not
that it mattered much as it was being installed at the recovery site).

Your new unit must be active/active and that should help. Apart from that I
don't know how it differs from the MSA1000.

I wouldn't be confortable running an MSA for production again. YMMV.
