HP certainly won't, and a big advantage of VMS---its uniform
design---will probably be lost since not all coders will have the 
knowledge/time/resources to follow it.

I would be surprised, but not overly so, if this happens.

Not practical.

Fourth solution: Continue to use what you've got.
