Good idea.  Does anyone know how to put a similar request in for the 
Ubuntu distribution?

The "set cpu idle[=vms]" parameter in 3.9 has made a world of difference 
to me.  I can now run SimH for prolonged periods without fans running at 
full belt, and with summer arriving that's important for me.
