I have configured multi-path DG boot devices on Alphas with firmware 7.3,
mostly DS15, ES45, and ES47.
IIRC, the maximum length of the BOOTDEV_DEF console variable is 256.
Within that limit, it takes as many boot devices as you want (think
2 HBAs and 2 EVAs = 4 paths x 2 EVAs = 8 bootable DGA devices).
FWIW, the latest console firmware takes a maximum of 16 FC translations;
before that, it was limited to 8 (or 4?).
