This posting is a great idea. It's the most intelligent post in this
"VMS vs. the World" string.

When an AST completes, it could send the results back to the other
platform. RPC works both ways.

Always an issue in client/server situations. But if the two systems are
connected with a high-speed connection, and properly tuned for low
latency, this might not be a problem. YMMV applies.

Many of these are already present in later versions of VMS.
Note: You could also use this approach in the other direction to port
programs to VMS.
As a shameless plug, CHARON-Alpha runs on Linux, which means you could
have everything on one box. Or a VMware instance.
CHARON-VAX isn't available on Linux, but could be, if a business case
can be made for the port. Of course, if the target platform is Windows,
that part would be done.
The VAX version would be more work, since even VMS 7.3 lacks many of the
unix-like functions (stat, etc.) that are on Alpha.
