Since the Bliss compiler already has what it takes to generate near
assembly code, I was thinking it would be less complex to have it
generate macro code that could then be compiled using macro64.

And since x86 doesn't have the baggage of IA64 with epic and instruction
 bundles etc, it might be easier to use either Bliss-Alpha or even
Bliss-Vax (and give it 64 bit) to create something which can take bliss
source and make it work on x86.

On the other hand, if HP were to port VMS to x86, it would likely get
sufficient funding to get Bliss ported anyways.
