I think it is about picking up market share instead of picking up HP's
leftovers. Does HP have anything that interests Oracle ?
The problem is that HP is playing right into Oracle's tricks.
Project Odyssey should have begun in 2004 when Intel announced
CSI/Quickpath for the 8086 with superdome class 8086 based blade server
circa 2009-2010 and just let the market decide between IA64 and the 8086.
With HP lying about its intentions for IA64 and wanting to delay the bad
news as long as possible, HP is vulnerable and Oracle has taken
advantage of it. HP could have been in control and in the driver's chair.
Now, Oracle is in the driver's chair, pulling HP's pants down and
exposing the lie and pulling support for Oracle products.
