   Or, remove the screws, and see what does what.  You should
be able to rewind the tape, and reassemble it rewound (or
very close to it).  If you do this often, then whittling a
couple of unlocking plugs might be a worthy project.  I've
done it using a couple of screwdrivers, but that's a
dexterity challenge.  If you have doubts, then practice on a
junk tape.
