   I've always heard it as "Tape Editor and Control".  I'll check my
   copy when I get home.

   If PDP could formally go from Programmed Data Procressor to 
   Programmable Data Processor, TECO may have changed, too.  (PDP was 
   never formally Purple Data Processor, but many folks had one.)
