I recall a price somewhere between 20 and 30 GBP apiece in 1990.  My 
first order was for 11, because it took me into the discount band for 
11-20. :-)

DLT-IV tapes gave me price sticker shock.  In 2000 I was quoted 
something like 100 USD apiece, and that is why I chose to buy a DAT 
drive.  If I had known I was going to be offered a box full of the 
things for free a couple of years later, I would have sprung for a DLT 
drive (at something like 30% more than the cost of the DAT).
