BTW, Wozniak was already out of Apple at the time of the Macintosh.

For the Mac Plus (second generation mac) the disk drive went from 400 to
800k capacity on the 3.5 inch diskettes (I beleive this used double
sided disks). it was able to read, write and format both 400 and 800k
drives and later MS-DOS/FAT disks.

So it would seem to me that at the low level (tracks/sectors), the 3.5"
diskettes had an industry standard.
