Strange as it seems, there have been reports of people running software
for which they do not have the sources, or have lost the sources.
In general, I agree with you. Most of the VAX languages were ported to
Alpha, and IA-64. Perhaps not with all features, such as the
incremental compilation in VAX Basic, but enough to be usable. It's
usually a matter of resolve to "do it".
