DECservers have non-volatile memory in which it stores the 
configuration. It does not read anything more than the basic image to 
run by MOP. After that, it's all independent of anything else.

I have no idea about this. I had not even heard of appending information 
on servicing MOP before. Could you provide any references, or pointers 
on that? I would be interested in learning anything new.
