Are any of the Wirth style languages considered trendy these days ?
We have already talked about Ada's current position.
Pascal, at least in the form of Free Pascal, seems to have a active
community, but you never come across people talking about Pascal
in general conversation, so my perception is that it's a active,
but very small community.
Various Oberon variants are been designed and used in some research
projects, but none of the Oberon variants ever seems to develop into
something more lasting.
There's a GNU Modula-2 compiler, but I've not seen any evidence anyone
actually uses it for any real projects.
Personally, I think it would be great if more people were exposed to
Wirth style languages instead of just been exposed to C style languages.
Simon.
