Very sorry that I'm not as sophisticated as Mazzini.  Can you please
give some instructions on getting to the logging he included in his
post?

This may be due to the fact that I'm running against the remote
applet linked in the page from OP's original post, as opposed to
downloading the java code and building and running it locally.

In any case, running on:

  Windows 7 Enterprise N SP 1 (64bit, 4GB memory)
  Java 7 Update 17 (both 32 and 64 bit versions) 17.0.170
  Internet Explorer 9.0.8112.16421 (both 32 and 64 bit versions)
  Firefox 20.0

The iterations stop at the following values:

  IE 64-bit:  Something: 1CB<: 253  Stuff: 1CB<: 253
  IE 32-bit:  Something: 2CB<: 598  Stuff: 2CB<: 598
  Firefox:    Something: 1CB<: 87   Stuff: 1CB<: 87

So presuming the problem is that the iterations stopped, it looks like
I've reproduced the problem?
