1) I so far never tried Conv Boot on my Itanic.
Don't know why (I just noted this fact).
2) I added the boot menu entry for conversational boot
with SYS$MANAGER:BOOT_OPTIONS.COM (and never considered
to enter commands directly into the EFI). It looks like
this
6 CONV OpenVMS on DKA0: PKA0.0 -fl 0,1
$5$DKA0 PCI(0|20|1|0) Scsi(Pun0,Lun0)
IIRC, I entered only "CONV OpenVMS on DKA0:" and "0,1"
and "$5$DKA0 PCI(0|20|1|0) Scsi(Pun0,Lun0)" and the problem
was the last line, as the device list showed the VMS names
and required is the name of the disk in EFI (which is similar
but not identical) - but note again Statement #1 above
3) There is a SYSGEN parameter NISCS_CONV_BOOT which prevents
conversational mode for "remote" boot. I never tried if an
Itanic does always such a "remote boot" - which means, try
to change this parameter and watch for a different behaviour.
just my 0.02
