I used to live and work close to the German border when I was in Holland
(I could see the German flag at the border post if I took the scenic
route to work). Not only did the local primary schools get kids
starting there only speaking German, but in the local shops when
counting out change it went something like veerzehn, vijfzehn, zeszehn,
siebentien, achttien., neuntien (maybe the other way around).

I rather like the German Microschrott.
