The end of regular customer support in 2020 is the only item that I could see them bringing forward. 2020 seemed very generous given the pace of the deterioration. So perhaps they pull that forward to 2017 or so. That's the pessimistic interpretation.

But I would imagine that if you haven't migrated by now, you are in pretty deep, and no single tool can dig you out of it. Perhaps HP would better connect their VMS clients to firms like Sector7 or Transoft. But even then, its just an introduction. It's not a migration. And those migrations can take years. And that's even assuming that management is appropriately enlightened.

But I just can't imagine there is enough real money in it and the cost of keeping up appearances, even if they are based in India, will just continue to rise. It's possible that HP used to feel unsure how the community would react when they really started to put out the bad news. But I would imagine the past year has "inspired" HP to accelerate the bad news as I can't imagine they took any verbal beatings from any clients that meant anything.

Consider, the lack of "verbal beatings" may be attributed to customers
feeling there was no reason to discuss anything with HP.

When some teenager does some "donuts" in your well manicured front yard,
completely tearing it up, other than prosecution and damages, what is
there to discuss?

For some users, while their ass is in a burn unit at some hospital,
there will be no inclination to jump back into the fire that is
"trusting HP".
