OK, out of curiosity, has HP stopped selling support to MPE or Tru64
customers ? have they stopped selling support to VAX-VMS customers ?

It is a given that you can't expect an engineering team to update the
sopftware, issue patches etc once a system has been declared mature with
no new hardware support. But that doesn't mean that the vendor can't
continue to sell support contracts for both hardware and sofware.
