"It [OpenVMS] runs mission-critical systems and because of its consistent performance it tends to get little attention, except from a dedicated user community."

"...customers have to continue to justify the OS since the higher-ups keep saying, 'Move to Linux or Windows or Unix,' without knowing the consequences of such a move."

It was too consistent. If we had hacked into OpenVMS mission-critical systems while there was still time, we could have saved it. Higher ups would have remembered, loved, and supported OpenVMS if they had just gotten big bonuses for leading management efforts to save it from the hackers.

It coulda been a contender like Java.
