[Info-vax] hmac-md5 key gen

With all the tools and libraries and security options with oVMS, is there a callable system service or library that has the mhash() function or an equivalent?

I use the VMS C compiler primarily.  I've looked at the docs for the crtl crypt and encrypt, but it does not seem to generate an hmac-md5 string.

I see where the dnssec-keygen in tcpip services has an option for hmac-md5 key output, but i don't know if this is specific for dns related keygen only.

I have alpha's and I64's with VMS versions from 7.3 to 8.4 to test with.
I can load SSL or other tools if these libraries are needed.  

I've never used php before, but I loaded php last night on my VMS 8.4 I64 and then ran a short php script that I got from sourceforge and it worked when served via apache.

I would rather have a solution that I can call from my native VMS C code and I hope that I'm just searching in the wrong place and this group can point me to the correct place.
