This salary increase is effective as of November 1, 2013.
We don't knwo whether this represents a net increase for her or not. One
would have to know whether she keeps on getting stock options or if
those have runned out or have been diminished. As a "salary" for a CEO
fo a company that size, 1.5million isn't much. So one really has to look
at all the side benefits. (I wonder if HP still has the free hair
stylist that was required for LaCarly :-)
Remember that she set out on a long term turn around for HP, and I
suspect that as the ship slowly starts to veer into the right direction,
you'll see her salary vastly increase.
Of all the recent CEOs, Whitman seems to be the most down to earth in
terms of decisions and being able to keep a steady direction to undo all
the damage done by her predecessors.
I know that BCS customers feel shafted. One could easily argue that the
damage to BCS was done by LaCarly and Hurd and that it was in an
unchangeable direction to shut down. On the other hand, Whitman was able
to reverse the decision to not port NSK to the 8086. So I guess she
could have done the same for VMS.
