Back in VAX days patches for the third party software we were using
came in printed form so yours truly got the job of bashing them in.
Very prone to input error so I *always* put them in as command files
which I could double check and then triple check rather than applying
them directly. Life would have been easier here if the VMS PATCH
utility had included a checksum capability like the one on RT-11.
